The real Super Bowl champs? Food companies Super Bowl Sunday ranks behind only Thanksgiving in the amount of calories consumed by the average American in a single day, and several associations have tallied the number of chicken wings and potato chips guzzled down. The average American will devour 2,400 calories during the four-to-five hour game, ABC News reported. And what are viewers eating? According to the report: The Snack Food Association estimates Americans consume 11.2 million pounds of potato chips, 8.2 million pounds of tortilla chips, 3.8 million pounds of popcorn and 3 million pounds of nuts.
